Water distributions held throughout Jackson
Jackson officials say progress is being made to restore service to the city's surface water customers. Jackson residents have been without water for about a week because of a problem at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant.
The Mississippi National Guard will be distributing drinking water and non-potable water from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day at the following sites:
The city of Jackson announced two locations offering nonpotable water available for residents impacted by the water emergency. The water should be used for things like flushing toilets, washing clothes and cleaning, but not for drinking.
The city said two tankers are set up, one at Forest Hill High School at 2607 Raymond Road and one at the MetroCenter at 3645 Highway 80.
Grove Park and the Sykes Community Center water distribution sites will be open Saturday at 11 a.m.
Grove Park, Sykes Community Center and MS Move across from Tougaloo College will distribute bottled water on Sunday. Grove Park and Sykes distribution sites start at 1 p.m. MS Move will run from 3 to 7 p.m.
CED Jackson will distribute cases of bottled water to residents in need Saturday, September 3, at 505 Julienne Street. Residents are limited to two cases of water per vehicle while supplies last. Organizers say they have roughly 1,300 cases of water available to distribute.
