Yellow tubs available around Plainview for household trash

The Solid Waste Department has set out yellow trash tubs at the following locations: Kermit St. and Garland St.; 3rd St. and Joliet St.; 16th Street Water Treatment Plant; Skate Park Parking Lot; and Broadway Park.

Recent rainfall has made difficult driving conditions down Plainview alleys. The Plainview Solid Waste Department has not been able to collect trash from alleyways.

As a result, the city has set out yellow trash tubs at the following locations: Kermit St. and Garland St.; 3rd St. and Joliet St.; 16th Street Water Treatment Plant; Skate Park Parking Lot; and Broadway Park.

The Solid Waste Department continues to gather trash from paved areas and it’s monitoring alleys for possible bins they can empty, according to city officials.

While Thursday was the last day for residential trash pick-up before the Labor Day holiday weekend, the city will continue to monitor and pick up trash as quickly as possible to get back on track before returning to normal schedules (weather permitting) next week.

Citizens can dispose of household waste in those tubs if alley dumpsters are full, according to a note from the city. These dumpsters should not be used to get rid of construction materials.

The yellow tubs will be available until the city can get back to normal pick-up routines.
