The results of a Proof of Concept are available.

Promising alternative for low-chemical cooling treatment

A startup from Joure seems to have taken a serious step towards a useful alternative for cooling with fewer chemicals, without sacrificing operational reliability and at comparable costs.

The company Termanox BV has a patent on the combination of a biodegradable biocide and an exopolysaccharide (EPS).

The synergistic effect of these two components makes the product an extremely efficient agent against micro and macro pollution. With current chemical techniques, the entire water column must be treated to be effective.

The EPS in Termanox's product is a surfactant that ensures that the biocide ends up where the problems arise: the walls of the system. The product is therefore already effective from 3 to 6 ppm for a period of 30 to 60 minutes per day, depending on the conditions.

No corrosion Compared to, for example, traditional chlorine injections, the use of chemicals can be reduced by 95% with this technique. The chemistry that is still used is easily biodegradable. The product also contains no oxidizing components and therefore does not cause damage, such as corrosion.

A successful Proof of concept Last summer Termanox has been carried out a successfully with seawater on the Maasvlakte, Rotterdam the Netherlands. The company now wants to use the product on a larger scale and in various types of cooling water systems. This is to validate and optimize the operation in situ. For this they are looking for partners who are willing to jointly carry out a project.

The sumary of the Proof of Concept can now be obtained at the website of Termanox

Alfa Chemistry Testing Lab Releases Detergent and Cleaner Testings for Better Market Transparency

As a sub-branch of Alfa Chemistry, Alfa Chemistry Testing Lab recently announced its capability to conduct practical analysis for household cleaners, toiletries, industrial detergents, general cleaners, and other products. This newly launched detergents and cleaners testing service aims to advance the R&D process of detergent products and offers a comprehensive report issued by a third-party testing lab that will certify that products are made in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. "Cleaners,...

Alfa Chemistry Starts to Supply Quaternary Phosphonium Compounds for Formulation of Disinfectants and Antiseptics

Earlier this month, the New York-based chemical supplier Alfa Chemistry announces its decision to start to provide quaternary phosphonium compounds (QPCs), which proves to be effective antimicrobial scaffolds with improved broad-spectrum activities compared to commercial Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QACs). As a key class of organophosphorus compounds, QPCs can be synthesized by routes involving nucleophilic phosphorus. With potent bioactivities, biscationic phosphonium compounds are viewed as the next-generation...

Jenfitch's Breakthrough on Treating Legionella

Using our mineral oxychloride chemistry to control biofilm and prevent legionellosis is the most recent development of technology for treating systems contaminated with legionellosis. However, to understand how the mineral oxychloride chemistry works, you need to understand ORP and how to use ORP to achieve a 6-log reduction in less than 10 seconds in your water system. JC 9465, our new mineral oxychloride chemistry, that is NSF approved, EPA registered as a biocide and USDA Organic Registered for use in applicatio...

News Update: Alfa Chemistry Anounces the Supply of Cationic Surfactants

After the launch of anionic surfactants in previous month, Alfa Chemistry recently announces that it will start to supply cationic surfactants, another type of the most commonly seen surfactants, for customers both at home and abroad. Having excellent fat dissolving properties, cationic surfactants are often used in detergents as cleaning enhancers, while in fabric softeners they usually serve as antistatic agents or finishing agents. Some cationic surfactants even have disinfection function due to their biocidal...

Hydroflow Joins the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions

HydroFLOW water conditioners have been awarded the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label. An award for clean and profitable solutions. This follows an assessment performed by external independent experts and based on verified standards. It is thereby joining the #1000solutions challenge, an initiative by the Solar Impulse Foundation to select solutions that meet high standards in profitability and sustainability and present them to decision-makers to fast-track their implementation. Solar Impulse...
